    The Safety Car was introduced to F1 in 1994.

    Initially, the type of SC used was at the discretion of each GPs organisers (1995 Belgian GP used a Porsche GT2).

    Eventually Mercedes AMG recognised (with Bernies help?) the marketing advantages of providing SC for F1 season.

    Don’t know specs. on all SC’s, but I do know the current 1 is a Mercedes SL AMG Black. I think previous versions of AMG Black’s have been used in the past.
